Signs point to progress in Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ opening in Canton

Wildly-popular franchise has been eyeing Sheldon Rd. site since 2021

For those craving the opening of a Canton eatery that features hot dogs, barbecue and ax throwing — all under the same roof — the wait may be almost over.

A building permit dated July 6, 2022, was posted on a window at 5800 Sheldon Road in Canton — the southwestern-most corner of the Harvard Square strip mall — for Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ, a New York-based restaurant franchise that, in addition to a unique hot dog- and barbecue-heavy menu, offers a self-pour beer wall and ax throwing.

Construction personnel can be seen inside the space working diligently to transform the building’s interior into what promises to be a hot venue once it officially opens.

The restaurant’s opening has been a long time in the making.

A Dec. 11, 2020, press release stated franchisees Darrell Olds and Brad Fuchs were aiming toward a spring 2021 opening.

SocialHouseNews.com reached out to Crave corporate executives to learn of an opening timeline for the Canton location, but has not received a reply as of Aug. 29.

“We are excited to partner with Darrell and Brad,” Crave corporate representatives said in the 2020 press release. “They share the passion for Crave that we do and bring both business and food knowledge to the table. They are a perfect fit for the Crave Family.”

According to the press release, Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ, “remains one of the fastest-growing hot dog and BBQ franchises in the United States … and is known for its delicious pulled chicken, pulled pork and smoked brisket, not to mention the grilled all-beef hot dogs.”

The menu also includes fun items, including BBQ tacos, mac n’ brisket sandwiches and loaded tater tots.

The 22-plus Crave locations across the country are family-friendly, with many equipped with corn hole and giant connect four games, in addition to the adults-only ax-throwing alleys.
