Canton’s new Mexican eatery waits for green light to move forward

Located just north of Michigan Ave., Taco Factory generating buzz

The exterior of Canton’s soon-to-open Mexican restaurant The Taco Factory (4171 Old Canton Center Road) looks inviting, with two of its windows decorated by large images of delicious food and thirst-quenching drinks.

The interior, however, is still relatively empty as its owners — brothers raised in Guanajuato, Mexico, according to the business’s website — play a waiting game.

“We are waiting for the health department to conduct an inspection before we can move forward,” a representative of The Taco Factory confirmed to SocialHouseNews.com earlier this week. “We’re hoping we can open sometime in the fall.”

The Taco Factory owners hope the restaurant can open soon enough that patrons can enjoy the outdoor patio.

The restaurant, which features authentic Mexican street food, is moving into the building once inhabited by Famous Hamburger, which moved to a Ford Road location in spring of 2019.

The Taco Factory’s owners filed for limited liability company status on Oct. 29, 2021.

Upon moving to the United States, The Taco Factory’s owners worked in various restaurants, “starting at the bottom and progressively moving up the ranks,” the website explains. “They held a dream of opening a restaurant of their own and it has finally been realized.”

The most-expensive item listed on its wide-ranging menu is $16.25 (shrimp fajitas). Its street tacos — flour or corn tortilla with choice of steak, pork, grilled chicken, chorizo or pastor, and cilantro, onions, jalapeño, radish, and our house-made sauce on the side — run $3.75 each.

The restaurant does not offer alcoholic beverages.

For its owners and the legion of customers yearning to try the eatery’s delectable food, the wait to open will hopefully be as short as the business’s list of menu items is long.

SocialHouseNews.com will follow up on this story once The Taco Factory is on the verge of opening its doors.
