Tommy’s Express Car Wash is fast-growing franchise boasting innovative technology

The futuristic under-construction building rising from the ground on Ford Road, just west of Newburgh, is generating its share of double-takes from passersby.

The site is the near-future home of a Tommy’s Express Car Wash, a Holland, Michigan-based company that prides itself in “modular building designs, robust stainless steel car wash equipment, an advanced ‘Wash Club’ license plate reader system and high-performance wash detergents”, the company’s website boasts.

The recent growth of Tommy’s is impressive as it featured 122 locations across the United States as of August, with an additional 95 sites ready to open in the coming months, including the one on the southwest corner of Ford and Newburgh roads in Westland.

The franchise ranked No. 1 in the car-wash services category in Entrepreneur Magazine Franchise 500 2021’s list. It also earned accolades from Professional Carwashing & Detailing’s annual Top 50 U.S. Conveyor Chain List’s top 100, moving up to No. 5 in the national rankings.

Tommy’s offers four wash packages ranging in price from $6 to $21 for single-use washes. It also offers a monthly subscription service that starts at $19.99.

Most of its branches are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., but the times vary depending on location.
