Commissions department is a web platform headquartered in the USA. It aims to give insights and data reports to the insurance companies to keep a record of sale of policies by their agents to calculate the commissions that they need to pay the agents.

Process

Since the application on desktop was already in place, the user needs were very straight forward, we chalked down a listing of features and pages using flowcharts and web charts. We held brainstorming sessions collaborating with stakeholders to further drill the scope of the product. We came down to modules, sub modules that will be a part of this web application.

For each of these modules we further drilled down the individual pages and elements that each page will contain. For each of these we designed different options with different types of elements like drop downs, radio buttons, checkboxes and practiced a design-testing approach.

Here we designed multiple options for each page with different UX elements and took to the end users the options for testing and what best suited their requirements. Wireframes for the same were made to ensure the end user satisfaction and so that the goals of the product were met. We then designed the web interface with appropriate User interface design keeping the end product clean, simple and straightforward to read and understand.

We analyzed the requirements in depth taking insights from stakeholders. We understood the domain for the application and understood what we needed to build to cater to the needs of the end users. There were a varied set of user roles and personas for this product ranging from insurance companies to their individual agents. The user expectations were put forward. This was an existing desktop application with an old school design being followed. The aim here was to convert this into a web application incorporating the most recent and best user experience and interface practices in play.
