Diningout

dinningout
Brief

Dining Out is a concept based in the USA. It revolves around the idea of having a print magazine for individual cities in the US which gives its users insights about the various eateries around them and help them make an informed decision. The brief of the project was to create a web interface where the staff of dening out could manage, edit and view the various components of this magazine. This would include advertisements, cover pages and all interim pages.

This was an already created desktop application that came to us. We were to ensure that all features of this current application reflect onto the web app along with enhancements that we suggest for a better user experience and wider set of features.

Process

Apart from secondary research, we held in depth interviews and sessions with different user groups that were involved. We ensured that during the design process, each of the scenarios was taken into consideration. We created journey maps for each feature. These then after iterations got converted to wireframes. There was a constant design feedback session with stakeholders to further iterate and test the wireframes.

Discover

We went over in detail the existing desktop application. We made a list of features, bottlenecks and scope for improvement in the same. Since there weren’t many similar products existing in the market, we relied mostly on products that aided edits and formatting of collateral for research. We held calls with the different users that were involved in the process like editors, photographers and publishers to take insights on usage, expectations and limitations they faced in the current application. Our reading, findings and comprehension was shared with the stakeholders for the project to be taken forward.
